Reward offered for Teresa Butler

NEW MADRID - A $5,000 reward is being offered for the safe return missing Risco woman.

The New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens announced Thursday the reward for Teresa Butler’s return. This reward is being offered through the Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation.

The reward fund was established by the parents of Carole Sund. Sund, her daughter, Juli Sund, and Silvina Pelosso were the three women sightseers who were missing and later found murdered near Yosemite National Park in February 1999.

At the request of the FBI, Sund’s parents, Francis and Carole Carrington, posted rewards both for their safe return and for information leading to the whereabouts of their rental car. The Carringtons believed the posting of these rewards and the media attention they received, contributed to the car being located and gave them the first break in their case.

“They were thankful that they had the financial means to offer these rewards and it’s because of this that they have started ‘The Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation.’ This foundation was established to assist families such as the family of Teresa Butler, who are in similar circumstances as the Carringtons in that Teresa is a missing person,” according to the news release issued by Stevens.

According to the Foundation, reward money can make a difference because the Foundation’s reward money has already assisted in the location of nine missing persons and the apprehension of 29 murder suspects and three kidnappers of young children. To date the Foundation has paid a total of $175,000 in rewards to citizens.

Butler, 35, who was found to be missing from her Risco home on the morning of Jan. 25. Her husband, Dale Butler, discovered their two children, ages 2 and 4, alone in the family home on County Road 241, also known as Eight Ditch Road, just off Highway 62 on the outskirts of Risco.

No sign of forced entry were found although some items were believed missing from the home.
Butler is described as five-feet, seven-inches in height, weighing approximately 109 pounds, with brown eyes and hair.

Those with information about Butler or the case are asked to contact Stevens or the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department at 573-748-2516.

IF ONLY THERE HAD BEEN A PROFESSIONAL SHERIFF WHEN MARY GROBE DISAPPEARED!

Things would have been different if Mark Dobbs was the Sheriff of Butler County, Missouri when Mary Grobe disappeared!

Butler County now has:

Major Case Squad
2 Full-time Criminal Investigators
2 crime scene technicians
Grant Money that is used for the Dept.--not for personal use/gifts
10 arrests for the 10 murders in 2005
Respectful/professional law enforcement

Mary’s life was valuable to the people who loved her. Even though the crimes against her currently remain unsolved, they helped bring about some long overdue changes to a corrupt little Southeast Missouri County; a County where the authorities turned their heads and looked the other way to allow the abuse of a poor innocent elderly widow. It was a county with a sheriff who refused to properly investigate once Mary Grobe disappeared.

Thank you Butler County for the improvements, now please solve the crimes against Mary Lee Grobe. Please make professional changes in the Public Administrator’s office (Sharron K. Payne) so the elderly Butler County residents are safe. Mary deserved so much more but now at least solve this case. What will Butler County say WHEN this happens again? SOLVE this crime before it does.

Teresa Butler Disappears from Risco Missouri

Another woman disappears from Southeast Missouri,

Risco, MOPolice Searching for Missing Woman
by CJ Cassidy KFVS TV-12
Risco, MO - The New Madrid County Major Case Squad takes on a bizarre case involving the disappearance of a Risco woman.

Police say 35-year-old Teresa Butler's husband reported her missing after he returned home from working an overnight shift at an Arkansas Steel MIll.

New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens says Butler 's husband found his two young sons left alone at the house.
"He noticed a Playstation missing from inside the home and also the stereo missing from his jeep that he had left parked outside," Stevens says.

Butler 's Jeep was taken away for processing as well, and the two children were with family, the Sheriff says.
Investigators quickly strung up crime scene tape around the house, and searched the property on foot, as well as from air, by bringing in the Highway Patrol airplane.

Beth Bixler, one of Butler 's longtime friends, says the two children were Teresa's life, and she would never even abandon them and wander off.

Bixler also says the Butler 's made Risco their home about five years ago, and appeared to be very happily married. She had never heard of Butler having any problems that could have been alcohol or drug related.

Police say they don't have any suspects, but they have not ruled out foul play.
They say they plan on being on the case, as long as it takes to come up with some answers.

If you have any information on Teresa Butler's whereabouts, please call the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department at (573) 748-2516, or the police nearest you.
